BJP’s Nishikant Dubey accuses Nehru and Indira Gandhi of foreign-backed move to destabilise Kerala government

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has levelled serious allegations against the Congress, claiming that the party conspired with the United States to topple the Communist government formed in Kerala in 1957. The remarks came through a series of posts on social media in which Dubey described the period as a “dark chapter” in the history of the Congress party.

In his post, Dubey referred to April 5, 1957, when the first elected Communist government in Kerala came to power under the leadership of EMS Namboodiripad. He alleged that soon after the formation of the government, political developments triggered international involvement and a conspiracy to destabilise the administration.

The BJP MP further claimed that the then Congress leadership, including Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Congress president Indira Gandhi, worked with the US and the CIA to undermine the Communist government in the state. According to Dubey, the political environment at the time reflected the influence of global powers during the Cold War era.

Dubey shared documents and remarks on social media while reiterating his criticism of the Congress leadership. The allegations have added to the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and the Congress, with the issue now sparking renewed debate over historical political events related to Kerala’s first elected Communist government.
